At Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University (STOU), sustainability” is not merely a trend but a fundamental pillar of our mission.  Guided by Thailand’s national vision of Security, Prosperity, and Sustainability, our university is steadfast to integrating the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into our core strategies and operations.

Our commitment extends beyond academic excellence. We strive to enhance the well-being of our communities, society, and nation by fostering a culture of sustainability among our students, school members and staff. This includes promoting environmental awareness, implementing eco-friendly practices, operating our campus sustainably, and embedding sustainability principles into our teaching, research and daily operations.

In facing global challenges – ranging from public health crisis and climate change to social, economic and structural inequalities, STOU envisions a path toward sustainable internationalization and long-term societal value. Our active participation in the UI GreenMetric World University Ranking underscore our dedication to environmental stewardship and our aspiration to be a model for sustainable higher education in Thailand.
